Thelma Theresa White Triggs was a devoted deaconess of Morning Star Baptist Church, where she served with grace, humility, and unwavering faith. She received her education at Delta College–CNA and later worked as a CNA at Heritage Manor, caring for others with the same tenderness she poured into her own family. On August 25, 1956, she married the love of her life, the late Herman Triggs, Sr., and together they built a strong, loving family that became the center of her world.
Thelma’s greatest joy was in the love she cast upon her family. Her delights were cooking red beans and her famous banana pudding for her children and grandchildren—meals that became traditions, memories, and a language of love all their own. She showed up for her grandchildren in every way, offering steady support, warm meals, and a presence they could always count on. She loved traveling, especially cruising, and found joy in playing solitaire and trying her luck at the slot machines. Her humor was unforgettable, often punctuated by her signature remark, “Nah, ain’t that stupid,” a line that never failed to bring laughter and reveal her sharp wit.
She is survived by her sons, Herman Triggs, Jr. of Harvey, LA; Eugene Triggs, Sr. of Schriever, LA; Kenneth Triggs of Schriever, LA; Herbert Triggs of Slidell, LA; and Joseph Triggs of Las Vegas, NV; one daughter, Annette Stewart of Schriever, LA; 33 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Douglas White, Sr.; and one sister, Lillian White Gray. Thelma is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Triggs, Sr.; her parents, Andrew and Lillian White; her son, Ronnie Triggs; daughter, Joyce Triggs; granddaughter, Wendy Triggs; brother, Eddie White, Sr.; sisters, Ernestine Sumner and Claudia White; and sister-in-law, Bernadee White
