Chidi and Ugochi Imo on a beautiful December night in 1992. Holding Nneoma in our hands during the
festivities of Christmas brought so much joy. It reminded us of all the beautiful celebrations in the future
and the celebration of her life. She is survived by her sister (Nonye), brother (Chibuike), host of uncles,
aunties, cousins, friends, colleagues, classmates, Church family, and everyone here today. From the
young age of twelve, Nneoma never let her health challenges define who she was. She lived her
spiritual, social, physical and academic life to the fullest.
Spiritually, Nneoma was born, dedicated, and baptized into the Seventh day Adventist (SDA) Church. Her
early years were guided by SDA youth ministries who helped her to develop a strong faith and to trust in
God. She participated and was the captain of her pathfinder bible achievement team. Her love and
dedication to God’s service was demonstrated in the many roles she played in church. God blessed
Nneoma with a beautiful voice. She honored and praised God with her voice as a member of the “little
Angels’ singing group (thanks to Brother Chibuike Nwaobia), UASDAC youth choir director, and a
member of the praise team of Berean SDA Church in Charleston WV.
Physically, Nneoma was a highly functioning 27 years old until the Monday evening that she got sick.
Despite her diagnosis and prognosis, she carried on with her everyday life. She did not let her prognosis
define her. She lived only a short two months from the date of her recent diagnosis of metastatic
Synovial Sarcoma to the night of Monday, February 11, 2020, when she was rushed to ER with Chest
pain and difficulty breathing. By late Tuesday night, she was on life support and it was evident that she
would not recover from Metastatic Synovial Sarcoma. On Wednesday morning, Feb. 12, 2020, with her
Mom holding her hand and singing her favorite hymn, “Anywhere with Jesus I can Safely Go”, she went
to rest in the Lord.
Socially, we will miss Nneoma’s laugh, Nneoma’s love and Nneoma’s friendliness, but we will always
have the legacy that she has left for us. She had no enemies and would not allow you to talk her into
making enemies. She is selfless and found joy serving and helping other people. Nneoma loved and
shared a special bond with her sister and brother, (“Chibbs” as she fondly called him). Nonye was her
“voice of wisdom” and gave her the gift of safe and loving ears to express her “dark moments” during
her journey with cancer. She was Chibbs’ accomplice and enabler. Occasionally, she’ll order pizza all the
way from Charleston WV to his apartment in College Station Texas. She loved and derived joy from
online shopping. She shared her Amazon free shipping account with whoever needed it. She kept in
touch with scheduled dinners and lunch dates with her friends from kindergarten, classmates,
Walgreens colleagues, and acquaintances every holiday.
Academically, she spent the last two months of her life doing what she loved, her school work. She had
only this one semester to complete her academic requirements before her clinical rotations. She was
looking forward to the month of May to officially begin her rotations. She had her plans, but God had
better plans for her.
Our dearest daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, we will miss you forever and can’t wait for the
day we can be together again when the trumpet will sound and the dead in Christ shall rise first, Our
prayer is that we will be among those that will be counted worthy to join with you in the clouds of
heaven.
