Soraya was born in 1926 in Quena, Egypt. She was the second youngest of four sisters and two brothers. Soraya first met Helmy while he was serving as a deacon in a church in Giza, Egypt. They married in 1945. Although she started medical school, she decided to devote her life to her three children by the teachings of Christ. Her devotion and high expectation in her family is evident in the twelve doctorates held by her children and grandchildren. Soraya and Helmy immigrated to the US in 1979, and with their faith in God, they made a home full of family, friends, love and prayers.
Our memories will forever hold the clarity of thought, kindness, and simplicity she exemplified throughout her life. She is also known as a woman of prayer, as she prayed for everyone who asked her. She always prayed with devotion and sincerity.
She was the late wife of Helmy F. Eldiwany, mother to her sons Labib and his wife Alisa, Monir and his wife Seham, Bahir and his wife Magda; Grandmother to Ramsey, Alison, Ramy and his wife Katie, Justin, Mary and her husband Joseph, Michelle and her husband Joseph, and Mina. She was the great grandmother to Wesley, Cecilia, Sphia, Emma, and Benjamin. She was sister of Samir, Kadria and the late Fahim, Mary, and Gamila.
May the Lord repose the soul of the dearly departed in the Paradise of Joy in the bosom of our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
