

Adelina Vasquez de Ortiz, 88, was born on October 13, 1937, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, and passed away on July 8, 2026. A resident of Sugar Land, Texas, Adelina will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Adelina carried herself with a steady faith and a gentle spirit that brought comfort to others. She was generous in the quiet, meaningful ways that truly matter, offering kindness and compassion with sincerity and warmth. Her resilience and hard-working nature were evident in the life she built and the care she gave to those around her.
Adelina married her husband, Florentino Ortiz, in 1959. In 1973, they moved to Houston to raise their family, creating a home rooted in love, devotion, and steadfast support. Adelina was a cherished mother and family matriarch whose presence made gatherings brighter and whose care was felt in countless everyday moments.
Adelina dedicated years of dependable service to her work and retired from Fort Bend ISD as a custodian, having worked at Austin High School. She approached her responsibilities with diligence and pride, earning the respect of those who worked alongside her and the gratitude of the community she served.
In her personal life, Adelina found joy in simple pleasures and shared laughter. She loved to dance—especially cumbias and mambo—and her lighthearted humor could lift a room with ease. She also enjoyed gardening and, most of all, spending time with family, offering a loving presence that was both steady and uplifting.
Adelina is survived by her children, Sergio Ortiz, Norma Ortiz Herrera, and Jose Ortiz; her brother, Alfonso Vasquez; and 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Gilberto Ortiz.
Visitation will be held at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services, 7010 Chetwood, Houston, TX 77081, on July 15, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077, on July 16, 2026, from 10:30 am.
