Adeline’s LIFE STORY
It is with profound sadness that the family of Adeline Jackson announces her passing on August 13, 2025, at the age of 81. She departed this life peacefully at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Adeline was born on January 1, 1944, in Sunset, Louisiana, to the late Ollie Briscoe and Mildred Smith. At a young age, she was baptized in a river and became a devoted member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where the foundation of her faith was built. She attended George Washington Carver Elementary through High School, where she excelled academically and socially. A natural leader, she was crowned Homecoming Queen, proudly served on the drill team, and graduated Salutatorian of the Class of 1961.
Adeline went on to devote 36 years of service to the Houston Police Department, where she built lifelong friendships and a legacy of dedication.
Beyond her professional life, Adeline was a woman of grace, style, and faith. She loved fashion, sewing, and traveling. She was also known for her strong opinions and bold voice—if you asked Adeline a question, you could count on her to tell you exactly what she thought. Her honesty, often wrapped in humor, made her both admired and deeply loved.
For the past 38 years, she was a faithful member of The Community of Faith Church, where she joyfully served as a greeter and worked with the Food Bank Ministry. She was honored as part of the Living Legends, and actively participated in Angels Surviving Cancer, the Red Hatters, and the AARP community.
Adeline’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving children: Annie Latrice, Cynthia Williams and David Jackson; her 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings: Gloria Wiley, James Smith, Mildred Fairman, Ollie Briscoe, Joseph (JoJo) and Theresa Henry.
She was preceded in death by her sisters: Annie Ruth Brown (Bris) and Janell Eaglin, as well as her grandsons: Eric Norton Jr. and Cyrus Elijah Moore.
Adeline’s life was one of faith, family and service. She will be remembered for her warm smile, vibrant spirit, stylish flair, and her gift for always keeping it real. To know her was to love her— and to never doubt where she stood.
