We are in a state of deep sadness because 'Soye, our friend, classmate, schoolmate, brother, and a mentor to many is no longer here with us.
It is true life is like a walking shadow full of sound and fury signifying nothing. We met as youngsters at Luther Kings College, Ileogbo over 4 decades ago, all of us excited about our new school, some to a new environment, but all with no idea on what the future holds. You were one of the few old students who maintained contact with your school mates and friends till the very end.
Your generosity, deep insight on various subjects, and wisdom will stay with us always. We draw consolation on memories of good things we did together as secondary school students and later in life as friends. The fun times, challenges we were blessed to share with you will live with us forever.
‘Soye, the traits that you displayed in those early years as a young boy were the same you showed throughout your journey of life.  Your hard work, humor, truthfulness, focus on purpose, kindness, care for others, generosity, curiosity, love & fear of God.
As classmates, schoolmates, friends we will miss how you reach out to check on us.  You don’t call because you need anything from anyone or to casually find out what people are doing; you reach out and specifically ask pointed well-being questions. You will listen, advise, recommend solutions, help financially, make yourself available for others no matter the distance and place. For this, we are not ungrateful as memory lost, they say, is an act of ingratitude.

Peaceful from beginning till the end. A chronic giver. A philanthropist. Beautiful inside and out. No one comes to you dejected and goes back the same. You carried all of us your younger ones along with love. Even when we do some wrong and we apologize and say "E ma binu sir" you always reply that " Ti mo ba wa binu se nja ogun ni". When we hear our door bell ring at odd hours, we always know it is you coming to check on us, you will always say I came to check on you and the children "if mountain does not go to Mohammed, Mohammed will go to the mountain. Ah.... Hmmm. You transformation has sent me to a new school of life. You were always there for us. When you were in Saudi Arabia, and I was in Ogun state polytechnic, you always come down to visit me each time you come to Nigeria. Brother mi, when I lived with you in New York. You told me that you always wake up each morning and tell to God to use you to bless someone each day. You sure did live up to it. You out gave yourself, and that is my consolation - you lived well and touched many lives both far and near. If the great testimonies people has about you can wake you up, you would be here now dinning with us. The great teacher, your life story and lifestyle is a school in itself, even in your passing you keep teaching us. I salute you brother mi. Thank you great warrior - Omo Balogun. Osan jaaaa. Adesoye Akinbayo,  you left us suddenly and at the time you are needed most. You lived a good life and left a good name. You were a loving and caring father and husband . You always wanted people around you to be happy.  You made it possible to come to US in January to say goodbye in your own way. Your exit is painful but whatever God does is beautiful.  He loves you more than us and wants you to be with you. Our consolation is that you are with him and we will surely meet on the last day. May the Lord comfort the family and all of  us. Bobso, I would rather write a tribute to you, and about you, for your retirement party than this. Few deaths have left me more shocked, dumbfounded, and disappointed than yours. Yet, I must celebrate our short walk. Like Job, I must give thanks to God for His faithfulness. It may not seem so in this context. Yet He (God) is faithful.

You are joy personified. Since I met you at Aladorin in the early 80s, you embodied joy and fun. Never a dull moment around you. The perspective you offered about life and its roller-coaster of events were always to look at the positive side of things while dealing with the present. I will never forget that phrase: “A o sa le wo sunsun k’afo ra eni leti.” Translated loosely as “at some point in a difficult and stubborn circumstance, we have to accept the situation and move on.” This one is tough, Bobso! Only God can provide the strength to move on.

You were naturally philanthropic. You keep on giving regardless of your financial strength. Your empathy towards others and their situation triggers spontaneous giving in you. When you visited home from Saudi Arabia, you gave. When you heard about the birth of the twins you gave. I came to New York on a business trip you gave. You sent materials to study for Networking to get my family afloat. You drove o Indiana to visit. These are just highlights of how you were open-hearted and open-handed toward me and my family.

Your knowledge of the language and Yoruba culture is profound. You enlightened and educated many on the misinterpretations and misrepresentations of phrases and adages.

Death, where is thy sting? My brother is in the presence of his creator, where there is no more sorrow, tear, or pain. We know that in His presence, there is fullness of joy. Bobso, rest on. Enjoy the pleasure of God’s presence until we meet to part no more. Amen.

Adesoye, you did not give Professor Bola ADELABU any idea about your sudden departure to the great beyond even when she spent almost three weeks with you in Texas. You took care of her as you would do to your own mother. You drove Prof to Airport and you were reluctant to leave her. You waved and waved to demonstrate your love. You related with all members of Adediran's family like your blood brothers and sisters. What kind of Tribute can we write on a loving, amiable, gentle, accommodating and dependable person like our Adesoye Akinbayo. It's a costly, sorrowful and devastating loss. Akinbayo you were too precious and we will surely miss you.Our consolation is that you knew Christ and you accepted him. We have the assurance that we shall meet at the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ at the appointed time when nothing will separate us hence forth.   We remind ourselves of' "one day". One day we were born and One day we will die.  We  commiserate with the wife, children, entire family,  friends, brothers, in-laws and co-workers. It was a big shock to hear of your exit,I was short of words and with no courage to speak to your wife. It still feels like a bad dream but we take consolation in the sacricial and almost saint-worthy life you have lived. I remember meeting you on my arrival in Saudi Arabia at King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh , you myself and Modupe Elegbede some money without even knowing you will meet us , we were both amazed and you reassured us as it was during Sadam Hussein -Gulf war.What if our trip to Ghana for the CGFNS exam, I can’t count how many nurses you paid for the hotel accommodation and feeding expenses.You took care of my children when they were on holidays with your family you loaded their suitcases without spending a farthing from money they had .They still  talk about that holiday till today. Also enjoyed the same treatment during my holiday as well.Your gift for my 50th birthday is still hanging in our living room.What about your kind gestures to my parents.I pray that the Almighty God grand your wife and children the fortitude  to bear the loss.We take consolation in the fact that you are Resting In The Blossom of The Almighty God. Uncle Soye, so hard to believe but God knows the best. It came as a rude shock that drills me to the marrow. We can't question God. The Lord killeth, and maketh alive 1 Sam 2:6. "Kabii kan o si".

You did fight a good fight. Your brief life was quite eventful and adventurous. You touched and positively impacted so many lives. You broke so many barriers to lead  others to live a life of  sacrifice, love and kindness. 

Back in our secondary school days at Luther Kings College, Ile-Ogbo, you had always exhibited such  outstanding traits of love and compassion for others. 

People knew where you stood with them. Many of our classmates on vacation trips to the US always prefer your residence in Houston, with your wife and children very accommodating and welcoming. 

I am not surprised that you had such a peaceful exit from this world of turbulence. I believe that your tasks and assignments here were all fully accomplished. 

The worth of our life as mortals, is never in how long we live or in  the number of years we live. But rather in the number of lives we positively touched and in the volumes of good and pleasant memories we leave behind. 

Adesoye Wasiu Akinbayo, the next phase of your journey surely will be a peaceful and pleasant one. No doubt you have left a huge vacuum no one can fill immediately in your family. 

But the love, mercy and grace of God who called you home at this time, will be all sustaining and enough for them.

Mr Akinbayo, the news of your sudden death came to me as a rude shock. To pay a tribute to the passing of a true friend, brother, and a colleague is something that is very difficult for me to do. Can I talk about the close relationship we shared together, the support, the jokes and the encouragement? The bond between us was beyond a common friendship. It transcends beyond that level. 
Brother, you lived a life worthy of emulation. Many people have testified to your kindness, good name and generosity. Charles W. Eliot says " One of the purest and most enduring of human pleasures is to be found in the possession of a good name among one's neighbors and acquaintances" You were a very pleasant, courageous, compassionate, and big hearted man; a responsible husband and father.
I got to know you many years ago and knowing you was the greatest thing that has ever happened to me, and alas seeing you passed away suddenly has been the worst moment of my life. I know we cannot question God, he giveth life and taketh it away at its appointed time. I pray God to comfort your wife, children, families and everyone of us that is brokenhearted by your transition.
To those of us who are still living, let us remember the word of Mark Twain which says 
" Let us endeavor so to live that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry". Adieu Mr Adesoye Akinbayo, saying goodbye to you today is unimaginable because I believe I will still meet you again in Heaven, to choose you again as a friend. Rest in peace.

That was the kind of life you lived. Just from the picture alone. You lived a life of correction, input, orderliness, giving etc. Daddy, you can’t work pass a wrong idea and close your eyes. No! A man with a very big heart. A man of people who doesn’t place one person above the other. You treated us with love, respect, and gave unconditionally.  You have left us in Abundant Grace Parish with a great legacy that will never be forgotten. Not in my widest imagination did I think you’d leave in such a short time. Two weeks before your departure, you briefly interrupted our choir meeting to scold me about putting my microphone down during worship and stated “how many people and first timers do you want to explain to that your microphone stopped working? Regardless, I need you to put the microphone to your mouth even when it’s off.” Daddy, you said it with all seriousness as if you knew there wouldn’t be another moment to correct my wrong. Ha! I thank God for the kind of life you lived. Each time I think of you, I just laugh…… There was no time we spoke and you left me with a sad countenance. You’d always say, “Omoge, wa na. Bo ni o.” Daddy Akinbayo, time will fail me to tell the world the kind of man you were. If I should write a book on our encounters, I would end up with many volumes. I’ll greatly miss you Daddy. However, I do not mourn you. For you came, you saw, and you conquered! Hallelujah! Your lovely memories will not be soon forgotten. We shall see again on the Resurrection morning, where we’ll part no more. Adieu!!!

You are a rare gem, truly "igi to to ko kin pe ni igbo" but God knows the best. we  thank God for the life well spent, I will never forget the good time you spent with us and all good advises and words of encouragement you gave me as a father,  a guardian and  a mentor, you are more than a million to me sir, I wish you eternal rest....ADIEU!!!! Uuhhmm ! Soye ,the news of your demise has come as a very rude shock.Any time  I am in the U.S. , you always send something to my sister’s account for me despite not seeing me. My last visit to the US, we agreed to meet the following year, then came covid. I was looking forward to seeing  you when I come around this year. Then this????.oh well who am I to query God. HE giveth and taketh , HE know s best.

Daddy Akinbayo, a well respected man, full of knowledge and wisdom of God, you weren't a pastor but your actions, attitude and counsel proved to me that you were sent by God, to touch lives. In February this year, we discussed about life matters generally and as usual, I gained so much such that I didn't aware that we have spent almost 2

Daddy Akinbayo was a man of knowledge and divine wisdom, who was always go out of his ways to help others, though, he wasn't a pastor but he used everything that God has given him to spread the love of God to everyone around him. 

Barely 2 months ago, I called to check on him and we were discussing about life generally, I couldn't aware that, we have spent 2 hours on phone, due to his ideas and perspective he brought into the discourse. He will be greatly missed. May Amighty God grant him eternal rest and Comfort the family, brethrens and the friends he left behind in Jesus'name amen. To say we miss you in the church is an understatement. You were soft spoken, kind, full of love and advice, extremely generous. Always blessing us with godly counsel during Sunday school and you never came late to church throughout the time we knew you. Rest in the blossom of the lord daddy till we meet to path no more

This is very painful to hear of you passing onto glory.  The last time we spoke on 31st March, you were the one encouraging me about my loss not knowing that the next I will hear about you is this 😢😭Not only were you my classmate but my brother in law .

I can still remember all your activities for God at abundance grace parish of the RCCG.a husband to your very gentle wife ,a father and a disciplinarian. You succeeded in showing your children the way of the cross ✝️. During our son's wedding  you were there with your wife despite the short notice.i remember you advising  us when we were new in this country on how to train our children so they won't swayed. Mr Adebayo was a brother and a friend that has this good and cheerful character that I can never erase from my memory. Thinking back to the time you came to HongKong on holiday, your hilarious jokes and generosity like we had known each other for decades made my heart skipped when I had that God had decided to take you away from us. You are just to good to be lost at this age. Well we love you but God loves you more. Adieu Mr Adebayo, rest in peace in Jesus name. May the good Lord keep your wife and children and give them the grace to go through this period in Jesus name 🙏 

No amount of words can express how we are feeling right now. You will surely be missed. Continue to rest in the bosom of the Almighty till we meet to part no more.  Sleep on Baba Shoye as you are fondly called.

Our part crossed in UCH 81A set and ever since we have been together as one so it was no wonder in 1987 Like yesterday you were beside me Sola and I wish the family you left behind well

Uncle, the day you came all the way to visit me as your little boy just to perform the fatherly role on me and my wife. You came with loads of food gifts including cash(2018). Am grateful for a life you well spent. On the 18th April, 2023 I visited you in your office and all we discussed are alive forever in my head. We love you but God loves you more ❤️. Good night uncle. 😴. May your soul continue resting in peace 🙏. All you left behind shall prosper more with longevity, 🙏. 

Uncle Adesoye, we are still in shock. It's highly unexpected 

I spoke with you till 9:30 pm on Thursday, April 20, 2023, you gave me some information and asked me to write ✍️ it down, not knowing that will be our last conversation.

Uncle Soye, you are a kindhearted man to all of us around you. You will visit our homes with gifts, not minding our age and status. Our wives and children are still struggling to believe what happened. May God rest your soul and grant all of us the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.......... Tunji Aderibigbe
