Dr. Adolphus Foreman was born on May 21, 1941 in Joinerville, Texas to the late Curtis and Alma Foreman. He was the second child of six children born to this union.
Dr. Foreman grew up in Henderson, Texas and excelled in academics. He graduated Valedictorian of Henderson Colored High School. He did his undergraduate studies at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas and graduated with a B.A. in biology. Dr. Foreman received his M.D. from University of Texas Medicine Branch (UTMB) Galveston, in Galveston, Texas. He did his transitional year at R. E. Thomason General Hospital in El Paso, Texas. He began his first year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. He entered the U.S. Army and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at William Beaumont Army Medicine Center in El Paso, Texas.
Dr. Foreman was Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. During his medical career he practiced medicine and served as Assistant Professors at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas and the UTMB in Galveston and Houston. During his active duty military career he was Chief of the Department of OB/GYN at various U.S. Army hospitals. Dr. Foreman received the Army Commendation Medal for his service during Operation Desert Storm. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Later in his career, Dr. Foreman was a faculty member of UTMB providing medical services for multiple women’s health clinics throughout Houston area and serving as a mentor for the residents, interns and the advanced practice nurses in the OB/GYN department. In his spare time, he loved traveling, fishing and golfing. He was involved in various volunteer, civic, charitable and community organizations, namely he served as Assistant to the Chaplin at the VA Chapel at the Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center, an active member of the Hill High Alumni Association, he was a Lifetime Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and a Lifetime Member of NAACP.
Dr. Foreman married Thelma P. Evans in 1964. To this union two children were born, Annette and Kevin Foreman. The marriage ended in divorce in 1999. He later married Bonnie K. Mallory in 2001, she preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert “Bean” Foreman and James D. Foreman.
He leaves behind his daughter, Annette M. Foreman of Douglasville, Georgia, his son, Kevin A. Foreman of College Park, Georgia, his stepdaughter, Dr. Jennifer S. Saul of Marshfield, Wisconsin; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers; Curtis Foreman Jr. of Henderson, Texas, Rev. Albert R. Foreman (Carolyn) of Denver, Colorado; Lawrence Foreman (Ruthie) of Houston, Texas; as well as a host of dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
