The Garza Family of Garden Oaks, Houston, Texas is sad to inform friends and family that their dearly beloved family matriarch, Adriana Maria Garza, born on September 30, 1935, passed on at the age of 86 to be with Our Lord on April 12, 2022. She battled with failing health for several years. Born in Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Adriana with her husband Hector Garza immigrated to the United States in 1956.
The Garzas lived the American dream, having learned English and successfully establishing themselves here in our community. Adriana is survived by her loving husband Hector of over 65 years and their four wonderful children, Hector Garza Jr., Sandra Lieber-Alessie, Javier Garza and Antonio (Tony) Garza. Adriana received a degree in business but chose to give her full time to her family. She truly fits the term “matriarch” of the family, always sacrificing for the better of all. Adriana, although a very quiet person, had a great sense of humor and wit. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Alex Lieber-Alessie, daughter-in-law, Carmen Jacqueline Garza, and dear family friend Alfred Colunga Jr.
Adriana is survived by her grandchildren, Amanda Garza, Christian Garza, the twins, Aaron and Brandon Garza and Adriana Vaughan and her husband, Aaron Vaughan. Adriana was blessed to enjoy her four great grandchildren, Mia Teran, Ava Teran, Liam Teran, and Archer Vaughan. Grandma never played favorites and loved each of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Adriana is survived by her loving sister, Leticia Martha Garcia De Leon, who continues to live in Montemorelos. Her husband, Adriana’s brother-in-law, Rodrigo De Leon, recently predeceased Leticia. Adriana is also survived by Gloria Castro (Mamaita), her dear sister-in-law. Additionally, she has extended family living in Arlington, Texas and Monterrey, Mexico. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Adriana was a very special lady who enjoyed giving more than receiving. She always was cooking up something in the kitchen and there were always treats for the holidays, birthdays, and special occasions. When she passed, she left a legacy of giving and caring in the hearts and minds of all her family. Here was a spirit always with a smile on her face radiating love. She took her Catholic faith very seriously and was a Godly woman. She was a true prayer warrior, freely giving of her time to pray for those in need or who were suffering from ill health.
Mrs. Garza was extremely close to her mother, Paula Chapa de Garcia, who predeceased her at 96 years of age. Her father, Antonio Garcia Esparza predeceased Adriana when he was 84. Also predeceasing Adriana was her beloved sister, Mirthala Garcia de Martinez, and her sister’s deceased husband, Hector Martinez, Sr. Adriana’s siblings are survived by her many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm in The Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024.
