(1961 - 2025)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Adriana Huerta on March 10th, 2025. Adriana was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
Adriana was preceded in death by her parents, Ruperto and Josefina Castillo, and her twin brother Donato Castillo, who passed at birth.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Agapito (Pete) Huerta, and their two daughters, Amy A. (Nicholas) Villarreal and Amanda G. (Tallon) Dietrich. Adriana is also survived by her loving sister Marianela (Luis Manuel) Lizarraga and brothers Victor (Marta) Castillo, Reynaldo (Gloria) Castillo, and Rodolfo (Linda) Castillo, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who brought her great joy. Adriana had a special place in her heart for her "fur babies" Negrita, Lillie, Ruby, and Annie, who were an important part of her life.
Born in Monterrey, Mexico, Adriana was the proud daughter of Ruperto and Josefina Castillo. She pursued her academic studies in Monterrey and became a certified Nurse’s Assistant.
In 1984, while visiting family in Houston, she met the love of her life, Pete Huerta. After only an hour of conversation, Pete invited Adriana and her sister to dinner, where he proposed to her. Adriana happily accepted, and the two began their life together.
Adriana worked at several companies over the years, including Compaq Computers, REL Tech, and XL Auto Parts, before retiring to focus on the things she truly loved.
Adriana had many passions and hobbies, including arts and crafts, re-purposing furniture, solving puzzles, and playing board games, especially her favorite game, Lotería (Mexican Bingo). In recent years, she and Pete found joy in singing karaoke together at local venues, often sharing their favorite songs.
A lover of animals, Adriana took in many rescues, both in Mexico and the U.S., and gave them a loving home. Her kind and compassionate nature extended to everyone she met. She was always quick to lend a hand, listen, and offer support to anyone in need.
Adriana’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her spirit, love, and generosity will continue to live on in those she touched. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of sharing this earth with her.
