Alan Eugene Jennings of Stafford, Texas was born on the 19th of December 1941, in Flora, Illinois to Derwyn Jennings and Modean Davies Jennings. After a long illness, he passed away at 72 years of age in Houston, Texas on Thursday, the 21st of August 2014.
Known as "Gene" to his family and friends, he served his country in the U.S. Army and fought in Vietnam in 1963 - 1964. He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Gene was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also took great pleasure from classic country music. Until he took early retirement to care for his mother when her health was failing, he made his living in various sales positions, often selling building and construction materials.
Gene is preceded in death by his father and mother, and his sister, Yvonne Witcher. He is survived by his nieces Cheryl Lynne Brinson and Teri Brinson Love and husband, Bud; nephew Keith Alan Taggart and wife, Pamela; great nieces Melissa Gail Yoder, Emily Laurel Taggart and Stephanie Paige Taggart and great- great-niece Chloe' Mae Miller.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock to eight o’clock in the evening on Monday, the 25th of August 2014 in the Drawing Room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Funeral Service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 26th of August 2014, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.
A private interment will be held at a later date at Houston National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
