

Alan was born April 20, 1928, in Bryan, Texas to Louis and Carry Neveux. The Neveux’s moved from Bryan to the Houston Heights neighborhood where Alan graduated from Regan High School in 1946. His favorite sport was football and through his school years, he excelled in it. He was a starting quarterback on the Reagan Football team, and went on to star as quarterback of Kilgore Jr. College, and also the University of Houston. He had scholarships to both. He still holds two individual records at U of H for the Longest punt of 84 yards against North Texas State on 11/12/49 and the Highest Average per Punt in a game of 53 yards against West Texas State 10/30/48. Alan graduated from the University of Houston in June 1950 as a Physical Education Major and in 1955 received his Masters Degree in Administrative Education.
Shortly after his gradation in 1950 he was drafted to play football for the Baltimore Colts. Alan was looking forward to a possible career in professional football, but before the end of his first spring training, he received a different kind of draft. This one was from the United States Army. He served his country for the next two years stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio in the Medical Corps. He played football for the Army those two years.
Alan coached football in HISD at Jackson Jr High, Sam Houston High School, Reagan High School, Sharpstown Jr-Sr High School and opened up the Distributive Education program at Sharpstown Jr-Sr High School. He was assistant Principal at Sharpstown and Principal at Paul Revere Middle School. After that he was an Athletic Director for HISD and retired in 1990.
He was married to Dorothy Elliott Neveux on October 12, 1950. They were married 55 years and had two children, Craig Neveux and Vicki Neveux. They were life members of the University of Houston Lettermen’s Association and members of Grace United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sister, Laverne McClellan. He is survived by his son Craig Neveux, daughter Vicki Neveux and grandson, Alex Neveux.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Monday, April 30, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
