Albert was affectionately called "Keith" by his family and he was called "Sweat" in the surrounding neighborhoods. He attended schools in the Houston Public School System: Bruce Elementary, E.O. Smith Junior High School, and Phillis Wheatley Senior High School (Class of '74). Albert played drums vigorously in the band for "The Mighty Wildcats" and nearly drove his family crazy by practicing at home.
Albert was self-employed. In his early adult life, he worked on cars. Later, he became a "Jack of all Trades." Albert also loved to watch sports and old Western movies and EAT, EAT, EAT! He will truly be missed!
Albert was preceded in death by: Father - Willie Burkes, Step-Father - Clarence Wiltz, and Siblings - Jessie Lee Burkes, Sgt. Willie Lee Burkes, Lee Henry Burkes, and Carolyn Burkes.
Left to cherish his precious memories: Mother - Maxie B. Wiltz; Siblings - Rosemary Smith, Pamela Thomas (Leroy), Vanessa Bledsoe (Ronald), Clarence Burkes (Sheri), and Kareem Burkes. Special friends: Mr. Jimmy and Mrs. Willie Vaughn; a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
A visitation for Albert will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lockwood Funeral Home, 9402 Lockwood Drive, Houston, TX 77016, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. He will be laid to rest at Golden Gate Cemetery.
