When Albert was 2, his father was called to minister at The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Mason, Tx. He graduated in time to sign up for the Navy in World War II. He served his country as an Aircraft Mechanic and was lucky to be able to go back to school and work his way thru The University of Texas at Austin.
He worked nights as an ambulance driver and attended school during the day. He married Lois, his devoted wife of 62 years. He worked in Houston as an Industrial Adhesives Salesman for 20 years before opening Al Hakim Firestone. He always flashed his "Hookem Horns" sign to
all in a good natured way.
His parents and his sister, Alberta Machemehl preceded Albert in death. He is survived by his wife Lois, son, Charles Hakim, and daughter in law Elodie Hakim and granddaughter Rachael Hakim and grandson Bryan Hakim.
Albert enjoyed his retirement, beginning at age 59, so that he could restore and collect early Ford V-8 vintage automobiles. He was a proud member of the Early Ford V-8 Club of Houston.
The time he spent working on any and all club member cars was only equaled by the enjoyment he had going to club outings, meetings and the beloved Pate Automotive Swap Meet. Alberts unique ability and craftsmanship in automotive restoration was sought out by restorer's both professional and amateur. He took great pride in finishing the restoration of the last piece of stainless steel trim for his buddies perfectly restored car's. He was most comfortable telling jokes and laughing at those "old car swap meets".
Albert will be dearly missed by family, friends and neighbors.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 7, 2012 Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek, 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, Tx. 77095 (281)345-6061
