

Obituary of Alberta B. Smith Truscott
Alberta B. Smith was born on December 28, 1930, in Hempstead, Texas, one of three children born to Sacky Allen and Willie Brown. She later married Lee Morris Truscott Sr., and together they were blessed with six children. Seeking greater opportunities for their family, Alberta and Lee relocated to Houston, Texas. Later in life, she married Myles V. Smith Jr. III, and together they welcomed a seventh child, sharing a loving marriage that lasted 30 years.
Alberta was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant to her community. She dedicated more than 20 years of service to the Houston Independent School District (HISD) Food Service Department, where she worked as a cook until her retirement. Her strong work ethic, determination, and commitment to serving others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Following her retirement, Alberta embraced her greatest calling—caring for and nurturing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She carried the responsibilities of motherhood with grace, strength, and unwavering love, ensuring that her family was always cared for, supported, and protected.
A woman of deep faith, Alberta faithfully served her church for many years as an usher in the Baptist Church. She later assisted in her son's ministry, The Ambassadors for Truth Ministry, where she helped uplift and encourage members of Houston's Greater Fifth Ward community through her compassionate spirit and servant's heart.
Throughout her life, Alberta's unwavering faith, determination, and unconditional love were evident in everything she did. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, wisdom, and sacrifice that will continue to inspire generations to come.
Alberta was preceded in death by her mother, Sacky Allen; her father, Willie Brown; her brothers, Robert Heart and Robert Turner; her husband, Myles V. Smith Jr. III; and her sons, Cornell Truscott and Author Lee Truscott.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Lee Morris Truscott, Patricia Ann Wallace, Robert Earl Truscott, Myles V. Smith Jr. III, Roger Truscott, and Roger Smith.
She also leaves her beloved grandchildren: Louis Truscott, Quatina Shun Truscott, Samuel Truscott, Shane Fuller, Roger Truscott Jr., Jermine Truscott, Dominique Truscott, Umar Truscott, Myles V. Smith IV, Victor Charles Smith, Angelia Janel Smith, Glenisha Ryan, Glen Ryan, Author Lee Truscott Jr., and Jimmy Eason.
Her cherished great-grandchildren include: Aniah Rhodes, Carter Truscott, Alyssa Johnson, Qiyara Johnson, Alysson Johnson, Journ Truscott, and Genesis Truscott.
She is also survived by her beloved sons-in-law and daughters-in-law: Leroy Wallace, husband of Patricia Ann Wallace; Diane Truscott, wife of Robert Earl Truscott; Renita Smith, wife of Myles V. Smith Jr. III; Claire Truscott, wife of Louis Truscott; and Katherine Henson, fiancée of Lee Morris Truscott.
Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends, Alberta's memory will forever be cherished by all whose lives she touched.
Alberta's life was one of faith, resilience, love, and sacrifice. Her kindness, wisdom, and strength touched generations, and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
