Buelita,
I will always cherish the memories that I have with you. The one that always stands out to me is when I was probably 6 or 7 years old and you and I were on the Metro bus. I found a gold ring on the floor and you quickly told me to hide it before someone saw. I wonder what happened to that ring? Of course, I will never forget the bunuelos that you would make for New Year's. You always had to put them on top of the refrigerator, in that same silver bowel to keep me from eating them. I always wanted to eat them before the New Year! How could I forget your menudo? You always made a separate batch for me because I only liked to eat the hominy. I was a spoiled little kid.

As I grew into an adult, I know we lost some contact over the years. I moved to a different city and it was harder than I thought to make it back to Houston for visits. Even though we didn't communicate a lot, always know that I have endless love for you. Give my mom and Tia Ana a big hug and kiss for me!

Love,
Sonia Hernandez
