Alexander Tamayo Delgado was born and raised in Houston, Texas on October 1, 1980, by Dorothy Marie Tamayo and Ramiro Trevino. An adventurous child, he attended Olsen Elementary, Hambrick Middle School, and Macarthur High school where we excelled in academics, football, and sneaking out the house to go DJ under the moniker of DJ Minus. DJing was an early passion that stayed with him beyond graduation, thus taking DJ Minus around the world, since he enlisted with the United States Navy.
In the Navy, Alex went by many nicknames, with “Pun” being the most affectionately used. He proudly served as a Strike Intermediate Armament Maintenance man and F/A-18 Systems Organizational Technician. He traveled around the world serving our country with brave men and women who became his brothers and sisters. During his diligent service to our country, Alex obtained the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Sea Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, two Good Conduct Medals, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.
After serving eight years in the Navy, Alex, forever set on obtaining knowledge, entered and graduated from ITT Technical Institute in 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Science Information Systems Security. After graduation, he was gainfully employed and loved as a manager at Hewlett-Packard for four years. In the midst of working here, Alex furthered his passion and love of Dj’ing by creating his own business, EventStylez DJs, revamping himself into DJ Alex Vision. He slowly crept away from the clubs, leading himself into servicing house parties, private events, corporate parties and weddings. Through it all he was loved for his hype energy, signature mixes, and raspy voice that shall ring in our ears and hearts for a lifetime.
In 2019, Alex met the woman that would become his wife. After a beautiful courtship, they joined in holy matrimony on April 8, 2023. With this union, Alex not only became a husband, but he also became a father to two daughters, Nevaeh and Samara. He fully embraced fatherhood, enduring countless game nights of Mario Kart and listening to his youngest pound away on her drums or trombone. While the Navy and DJ’ing fulfilled him, being a husband and father is what completed him. He wore both of those badges with pride and honor.
In the spare time that he had, Alex was an avid gamer, and had taken interest in the acoustic guitar. He absolutely loved the Houston Astros and went to many games. He loved helping his fellow DJs perfect their crafts. He loved being home with his dog Carlito, cozily napping in his favorite recliner.
On September 19, 2026, after fighting illness and two amputations for 3 years, Alex answered God’s call, passing away peacefully at home in his wife’s embrace. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory, his wife, Markita Darnell-Delgado, daughters Nevaeh Darnell and Samara Darnell, sisters Ashlee Garcia (Johnny), Jackie Trevino, brothers Ramiro Trevino Jr., fathers Ramiro Trevino and Jose Lorenzo Delgado, mother in law Kina C Lloyd, nieces Evelyn Trevino and Zuri Garcia, nephews Ruben Elijah Trevino, Jayden Garcia, Giovanni Garcia, sisters in law DonNesha and Jessica Darnell-Jenkins, and grandmothers Mija Maria del refigio Meza De Trevino and Martha Dangerfield. He also leaves behind a host of Naval comrades who became honorary brothers and sisters, DJs who rocked out with him, along with a multitude of friends and clients.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Marie Tamayo, father-in-law Donald Thomas, and his Astros loving uncle Fred Marrugo.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and memories. They ask that you carry Alex in your hearts and remember the glorious and hype times shared. Please remember to keep his loved ones, especially his wife and children, lifted in prayer as they begin their journeys of navigating life without his physical presence.
