Alexis(Lex) duPont Valk,71, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016, in no pain and surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur deTalma Valk Jr and Anne duPont Valk and his wife Mary Morrison Valk. One of four children, Lex was born in Cleveland, OH, on Febuary 26, 1945 and was a graduate of The New England Conservatory of Music and Ball State University, where he obtained his master's and doctorate degrees.
For his whole life, Lex worked as a college music professor and as freelance double bass player, where he was able to perform for a multitude of people who loved hearing him. He was a devoted husband, father and brother and is survived by his siblings Arthur deTalma Valk 3rd, Thomas Heyward Valk, Harriet Valk Taylor, and his son Nathan Wilcox.
