He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Hattie Stolowski; and brothers, Leonard and August Petrash. Alfons grew up in Wallis, Texas graduating from Orchard High School in 1942.
He was a decorated Army veteran of WWII from February 23, 1943 to December 12, 1945. “Little Pete” was a long time employee at Continental Can Company: 1947 until his retirement in 1984. After retirement he thoroughly enjoyed his time at home; whether he was digging in his garden, fixing or refinishing a piece of furniture, he loved being outside working with his hands. He was an inventor at heart.
Alfons was a beloved, long-time member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church; worshiping there from 1959 until his death. He attended Mass faithfully and was an active member of the church’s Golden Youth club and the Liturgical Ministry. He was quick with a joke, never met a stranger and was the best “42” domino player. Grandpa will be missed!
