He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Boyd, brothers Joe Boyd and Lloyd Boyd, children Debra DeKerlegand, Candace Hilbun, Stephen Boyd, and Melissa Treichel. Kent left behind 10 grandchildren, Kris Laird, Richelle Reeder, Gretchen Heyn, Stephanie Heyn, Crystal Heyn, Jarret Hilbun, Sonnie Potts, Samantha Potts, Kacie Treichel, Logan Treichel. 11 great-grandchildren: Erik, Emily, Dakota, Faith, Ryan, Travis, Chelsea, Elijah, Bella, Noah, Adelaida. He graduated from the University of Texas, May 1, 1948, BSME. Kent was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II, landing in Hiroshima, Japan the day after the bomb was dropped.
His work history included Fairchild, NYC, Texas Instruments, and was the co-founder of Cougar Plastics, Houston, Tx with Paul Sanford (deceased). He held U.S. Patents for: High Speed 16mm camera (1959)

Texas Instrument Electronic Page Printer (The earliest ink-jet printer patent) April 1, 1975. Kent loved the water his entire life, and was an avid sailor. His favorite music was classical and opera.
