October 28, 1929May 2, 2021

Alfred Rodriguez Hernandez, age 91, of Houston, Texas entered into eternal rest peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2021 after fighting a courageous battle of Stage 5 Kidney and Renal failure. He was born on October 28,1929 in Houston, Texas to Florencio C. and Francisca R. Hernandez. He grew up in Magnolia Park and was best known as "Pila" and "Hunny" by family and friends.

He married Elvira G. Hernandez on July 5, 1957. They raised two wonderful children, Freddie and Leticia Hernandez.

Alfred was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend: family always came first. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

He can best be known as very hardworking, respectful, patient and loving to everyone around him. His presence, style, playful personality, and humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with family. He loved to cook and enjoyed making his famous "Big" Breakfast which made him feel great for you to start the day.

He was always a big fan of boxing and wrestling at the Houston Coliseum before WWE became famous. He enjoyed watching sports, and was a huge Avid fan of the Houston Astros. His favorite Houston Astros player was Jose Altuve.

He loved western movies with John Wayne. He loved old classic country music and was always singing and whistling tunes.

He retired from Bob Robertson Chevrolet after 30 plus years. In his retirement he loved working on projects in refurbishing antiques.

Alfred is now with the Lord, reunited with his loving wife Elvira; son Freddie; his parents Florencio C. and Francisca R.; brothers: Jesse, Paul, Floyd Hernandez and sister Elida Chomiak who have gone before him.

He is survived by his Daughter Leticia; Daughter-In-Law Rita; Grandsons Michael and Jared Hernandez; and Siblings: Francis Carrizal, Oralia Perez, Dolores Hernandez Alderete, Janie Hernandez, U P Hernandez (Wife Linda), Santos L. Hernandez Sr., (Wife Alma), Angel R Hernandez as well as In-Laws, Nieces, Nephews, and extended family and friends.

Perhaps you sent a lovely card, or sat quietly in a chair.Perhaps you sent those beautiful flowers, that we saw sitting there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say.Perhaps you were not there at all, just thought of us that day.Whatever you did to console our hearts we thank you so much for whatever part.

My fondest memories of dear Uncle Alfred and Aunt Elvira are when our mother, Frances, his sister, took us to visit their home on Avenue P. Uncle was sometimes working on a project in his garage or driveway and Aunt Elvira serving lovely snacks. There is photo somewhere of me as a little girl with Baby Freddie. Aunt Elvira loved taking pictures! It is hard to believe they are gone from this planet but are together in Heaven. Although I am far away, in California, I treasure my memories of my family in Texas.

Uncle Alfred’s family, our deepest sympathy to the loved ones left behind. I remember uncle Alfred always quietly smiling as he watched TV and at parties during the early days standing in a circle talking to the other uncles laughing and smiling too. Sad that he is gone but happy he is now with tia Elvira and Freddie. Going down
I-45 my parents (Jesus &Mary Guerra) use to say that is where your uncle Alfred works. May God give you the strength you all need. Linda & David Rodriguez, Houston, Tx
