Alfred A. Martinez, Sr., born July 27, 1931, in Houston, Tx. to Alejandro R. Martinez and Esther S. Olivares, passed away on Tuesday May 28, 2024, in Houston, Tx. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Martinez, and survived by his children, Alfred A. Martinez, Jr., PGA professional and Attorney Roxane E. Martinez.
Immediately after graduating from Sam Houston HS, he was drafted into the Korean War by the United States Marine Corps, (USMC), known to be the toughest basic training of the United States Military. During his time in active military service, he received the Bronze Star for his heroism under combat fire. The Bronze Star is the 4th highest individual military award.
He was a real estate broker, and musician by trade, and was president of Club Mexico Bello, and an officer in the Old Timers Club. He also joined the church ministries as a Guadalupana and was a Cursillista.
The Visitation is Thursday June 20, 2024, at Funeraria Del Angel, located at 5100 N. Freeway, Houston, Tx. from 3-9p, Rosary at 7p. The funeral Mass is Friday June 21, 2024, St. Patrick’s Church located at 4918 Cochran St. Houston, Tx. 77009, followed by the Rite of Interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery located at 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Tx.
