Alfredo Alonzo passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2012 at the age of 55 surrounded by his family at Methodist Medical Center in Houston, Texas following a long battle with complications from a surgery.
Alfredo was born in Honduras, on the 4th of September 1956. He moved to New Jersey as a young adult and has resided in Katy Texas for the past 21 years. For 4 ½ months he fought the fight of his life with his family by his side every step of the way. But God had a different plan for him and along this journey he strengthened our hearts and our souls. Alfredo was a humble and faithful man, loving husband and proud father whose first priority was his family. As he fought for his life day by day we realized that he was our Superman and we coined the phrase “Phenomenal Alonzo” because that’s exactly what he was, a phenomenal person.
He is survived by his wife, best friend and companion of 30 years Mercedes Alonzo; his sons, Jose Alonzo, Alexander Alonzo, Adrian Alonzo.; he also leaves behind a daughter Gina Lopez and her husband Anthony Lopez; his mother Rosa Lidia Castellanos; his father Ismael Alonzo; 7 sisters; 6 grandchildren; and many other family members and close friends.
For almost 20 years Alfredo worked at the Wal-Mart on 1-10 and Fry Road. He loved his job, the friends he made there and all the people he worked with.
The Alonzo family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Methodist SICU team. Your compassion and dedication was heartfelt.
