Alice was born in Chongqing, China to Tsunghai Yu and Hueichin Yu. She emigrated with her family to Taiwan during the Communist revolution in 1950 and grew up in Taipei, Taiwan on Andong Jie (Andong Street) with her four sisters and brothers - Wellington, Charles, Nancy and Stella, and her mother and father. She attended an all girl’s high school - and received top marks which allowed her to go to university in Taipei and obtain a scholarship to Southern Methodist University majoring in accounting. Alice served as a Christian missionary to China several times, as well as served the Christian community through teaching Sunday school and translating bible verses into Chinese. Alice was a keen participant in aerobics and rollerskating in the 1980’s, and tennis in the 1990’s.
Alice was married to Han Chang, father to her children, and then to Richard Boyd. She adored her grandchildren Ethan, Aaron, Evie and Zach more than anything in the world and took pleasure in caring for them from birth. Alice is survived by her brothers and sisters, and her children Erica and Nathan.
Alice was a loving mother and grandmother, and she was loved by her children and all of her grandchildren, and will be greatly missed.
We would like to thank the staff of Grand Living at Riverstone for helping to care for Alice through the last 4 years of her life.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Dementia Society of America in Alice’s name. Too many of our loved ones are succumbing to this disease. With your donation we can make a difference in our lives, and our children’s.
