Grandma,
     This week, we celebrated the first big holiday without you.  Thanksgiving. (not to mention Dad's birthday) My week wasn't the same not being able to go over to Mom and Dad's to visit with you on my time off.  It wasn't the same not being able to try to get you over to my house on Thanksgiving day and cooking you up something you'd like.  I didn't get to take you to the grocery store (or pick up something for you) so you could make Dad a pie or some other treat.  With Christmas fast approaching, there will be many more times that we'll be thinking of you and missing special activities we did together like my more recent 12 Days of Christmas tradition with you. Even though we are going to be feeling your absence even more during the holiday season, we can be thankful for all of the times we got to spend with you over the years and remember the little things that made them special.  I ordered a special Christmas ornament for you.  It is going to have your actual handwriting on it from a birthday card that you gave me which said, "God Bless. Love, Grandma."  I will think of you every time I see it hanging there on the tree.

Some of my favorite childhood summer memories were from the times me and Jim spent time with Grandma and Grandpa in Arkansas. Benton will always hold a special place in my heart. Playing with friends, swimming for hours, going to Cranks for our daily candy. Thank you Grandma for being part of those memories. I couldn't have asked for a better Grandma. And I will probably never eat chicken and dumplings again because yours was the only dumplings I ever liked.  Love you!

It was our happy priviledoge to know Sis. Alice Brown. She was a very sweet and precious lady! I was honored to perform the Wedding Ceremony for her and Bro Cecil Brown Sr. many years ago!  We visited them in Arkansas every opportunity and looked forward to their coming to Houston. We know she will be waiting for her loved ones in Heaven!  Love and prayers to all her family! Hello Grandma, I cannot believe that you are gone. You will always in my heart and mind because you are so wonderful woman. I remember when Thanksgiving we come over at your place sometimes, you always there to welcome us with the beautiful smile and delicious food especially the pumpkin pie I will miss all that. Thank you for welcoming me to your place, you treat me like your own family and I appreciate it so much. Miss you and love you from the bottom of my heart.

Mom,
     It's been about a month since your passing, and we miss you very much. As the days go by, we are seeing just how much your presence touched us in our daily lives leaving an empty place in our hearts.
     You will forever be with us in spirit.

Dear Grandma, 
   Words always seem to come too late.  I miss being able to call and chat.  Even though it was never enough.  Sorry for not being closer. Your great grandkids are getting so big.  We love and miss you. You will always be remembered.

During the summer of 1945, just weeks after graduating from High School, I joined another young Evangelist (James Mitchell Cason) and went to Huttig, Arkansas, to conduct a revival at the Assembly of God church. There I met and got to know Alice. All these years went by and I was privileged to talk with her via telephone in the Spring of 2017. We reminisced of that 1945 revival. Alice got saved then and was filled with the Holy Spirit. I am so thankful I got to talk with her before she went to Heaven to be with Jesus.  My prayer and wishes are that the Lord will give peace and comfort to all the family at this time.

To Dale, Vivian and Carol. I am praying for you all during this time.  I know she will be missed by many. I pray God comforts your hearts. I pray she and Uncle Cecil are having a great time reunited in Heaven!

You were the only grandma I got to know and always took such good care of  Grandpa.  I have such fond memories of staying at your house walking to the nearby store with cousins, going to the park, and playing in the backyard with all those little rocks.  Even though I hadn't seen you in a few years I always knew that you cared and loved me and my family.  I know you are enjoying time with Jesus and Grandpa.

There are so many memories I have of my beautiful mother.  She always put others first and was concerned for everyone but herself.  I remember always thinking how soft her skin was, even during her last days.  I'm thankful to my step-niece, Tammy, for suggesting that i take a picture of just my hand holding mother's  hand the day before she passed. I'll  remember the times she had my favorite meal waiting for me when I would go visit her in Arkansas; pinto beans, fried potatoes and salmon patties.  I've never been able to replicate her salmon patties, I guess because they were made with a mother's love.  I'll  miss calling her on my drive home after work every day.  She would be disappointed on those days I didn't  call. The weeks since her home going my first thought when I get in my car is to call her then I catch myself. I'll always be grateful that she raised me to love God, and know that I always had her prayers lifting me up.  Mother loved her children and worried about me, Dale and Bill all the time.  I tried to reassure her we were doing ok but she would say "I Know  but I will always worry".  I know she wished she could have done more for us but in reality she did more than she'll ever know. She gave us love, correction when we needed it, a loving home, and a Godly example for us to live by.     Mother I love you and will miss you every day but I know you are happy, whole and free of all your pain and suffering and rejoicing with your Lord and Saviour. Alice took such good care of our Dad. She was good to me and I loved her enjoyed the times I went to visit her at Janie house and at the hospital didn't go as much as I should have .I have a recipe book and some recipe she hand wrote she liked sharing recipe.

I couldn't have had a more loving mom.  She always tried to put her children before herself even until the very end.  I know she's in a better place free from worries and pain.

Forty-five years ago this June Alice became my mother-in-law.  My mom had just died six months prior, and Alice's love and kindness helped me through that very difficult time.  Although no one could ever replace my mom, Alice became my "other mother."  Over the years, I enjoyed spending time with her on our trips to Arkansas. I was glad when she finally agreed to move in with us.  The purpose was to take care of her, but she was always trying to take care of us. (especially Dale)  She would try to beat me to the dishes to wash them and help fold the laundry. Whatever she could help with she did, but she never felt it was enough. I already miss the "Good-bye, be careful" she would say as I left for work and the "How was your day" when I returned.  I am so glad that I had such a special person like Alice in my life.

     I remember visiting grandma and grandpa growing up.  Enjoying the flashing lights put out by fireflies in summer or taking a stroll at the nearby park are some of my fondest memories.  I can still hear the crunching sound the rocks would make under my feet walking from the side of the house to the backyard.  I remember sitting on the porch under the carport.  I remember grandpa watching Wheel of Fortune before dinner was served and eating grandma's good cooking.  Surprisingly grandma and grandpa got cable television before we did (not sure how that happened).  We would watch shows like Mary Tyler Moore and Rhoda, and I wished I had that channel at home.  Both grandma and grandpa liked to go to yard sales, and Mom and I would go along with them when we were visiting.  It was always hard to get grandma to buy anything over a dollar (if that at all).  I guess I don't really need that, she would say.  I would chime back, But do you want it?  There are so many more special memories and moments in time that I will never forget.
    When grandma decided to make the move to live with my parents in 2011, I was super excited since she would only be living about 15 minutes away from me.  For the last 6 years, I have had the pleasure of getting to know grandma even better, spending time with her every week, and helping to take care of her.  I can only hope that she enjoyed being with us as much as we loved being with her.  
     My times with grandma were simple in nature, but meant the world to me.  Helen Keller once said, What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.  All that we love deeply becomes a part of us. 

     Grandma, you will always be a part of me.

Blood does not make family, love does. You may not have been my Grandma by birth, but you were MY Grandma. You will be missed. You have earned your wings...fly Grandma, fly!

I was sad to see that she had died, and I know that her family will miss her.  Glen Seago  let his  face books friends know how she was doing, and I was so glad   to be able  read about how she was doing.

Alice I appreciate the love you showed John and I and our children. You will be missed, but I am so glad you are finally free from all pain as you dance on streets of gold and see your Savior for the first time. See you again one day.
