

Alicia Martinez passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024, in Houston, Texas, surrounded by the love and comfort of those who knew her best. Born at 6:10 a.m. on November 18, 1941, in East Bernard, Texas, Alicia was the cherished daughter of Mariano and Jessie Ramos and the beloved sister of Joe, Angie, Ruth and Richard. From a young age, Alicia’s bright spirit and determination shone through-a refl ection of her strong family roots and deep faith. Alicia dedicated much of her life to serving others. As a paralegal for the State of Texas, she made a lasting impact through her hard work and compassion. After many years of devoted service, she retired from CPS and APS, continuing her mission to help others in every way she could. Always eager to lend a hand, she became a notary, assisting anyone who needed her guidance and worked at the immigration offi ce, helping countless people with their applications-a true testament to her caring heart and generous nature. A woman of many passions, Alicia loved baking, and her famous brownies were a sweet treat everyone looked forward to. She also had an eye for beauty, both in life and in the jewelry she adored and sold from home. Beyond her talents, Alicia’s heart belonged to her beloved husband, community and church. A devoted wife, member and active volunteer, she lived her faith daily through service, prayer and kindness. A proud patriot, Alicia deeply respected those who served. With family members in the military, she took great pride in supporting veterans and giving back to those who sacrifi ced for others. Alicia’s life was defi ned by love, generosity and faith. She leaves behind her beloved neighbors, Martha and Benito, who were like family to her, and her dear friends Inez, Barbara, Charlotte, Denise, Robert and Rebecca. Her memory will also live on through her siblings Ruth and Richard, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members whose lives she touched. Alicia’s presence brought light wherever she went, and her compassion and love will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her. As a result of Alicia’s legacy, Mayor Annise D. Parker of Houston declared, as of September 1, 2011 as “Alicia R. Martinez Day” in Houston, Texas.
A visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, located at 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, TX 77003, on November 29, 2025, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. A chapel service will follow at the same venue from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
A graveside service will take place at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, on November 29, 2025, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
