Allen grew up in LaMarque, Texas. He received his Eagle Scout award with a bronze palm in 1953, graduated from LaMarque High School where he ran cross country and was LMHS band president, served in the U.S. Army for more than 4 years as a Morse Code Intercept Operator (SP-5) in Ethiopia, graduated from the University of Houston with a BA in psychology, and earned a J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 1972.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Allen became a Master Mason and lifetime member of the LaMarque Lodge AF & AM. He often took his dad to the annual meetings of the Blue/Grand Lodge of Texas in Waco and led the ceremony awarding his father, a founding member of the LaMarque Lodge, his 50-year pin.
For 26 years Allen was licensed to practice law by the Texas Supreme Court and the Federal Tax Court. He was a member of 5 sections of the State Bar of Texas – Contracts, real estate, business, bankruptcy, and probate. During this time, Allen also served as an instructor of Business Law at the University of Houston and was elected president of the Active Corps of Executives for the Small Business Administration for three terms.
Some of Allen’s finest moments were managing his son’s Little League and soccer teams, riding motorcycles, browsing gun shows, scuba dives with his son, handyman projects, LMHS reunion dinners with long-time friends, bridge and Scrabble, and Bible study.
A man of great faith who loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Allen was predeceased by his parents John and Nancy Crosby, an infant son Warren Allen, brother John, and nephew Blake. He is survived by son Allen Blaine and his daughter Iris, daughter Alena Bella, brother David, sister-in-law Marsha, niece Jonica and her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends who will miss him. The family would like to thank Dr. David Mouton and Dr. Tri Vu of Kelsey Seybold, Helen, Inga, and Maybel for their guidance and personal care.
A graveside service will be held at Houston National Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston, Texas 77038 on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 10:15am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allen’s memory to a church or veterans group of your choice.
