

Alma Grace was born on September 14, 1932, in Houston, Texas, to Elijah Peterson, Sr. and Alma Davis of Hearne, Texas.
She received her early education at Bruce Crawford Elementary School, and later graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in Houston, Texas.
On June 2, 1951, Alma Grace Peterson was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Fred Fobbs, Sr. Their loving union of six children were born, Ramona Ann , Fred Jr., Linda, Yolanda, Glenn , and William.
At the tender age of fourteen, Alma confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized, beginning a lifelong walk with the Lord. She first united with New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in the Youth Department and sang joyfully in the choir, under the leader ship of Rev. Dr W.H Dudley and later Rev Ray Nelson.
As her spiritual journey continued, she later united with Phileo Church under the leadership of Rev. Joseph Kirkpatrick, Jr. Eventually, her heart was drawn to Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church, where she found her church home and served faithfully under the leadership of Rev. Russell Hutchinson, remaining a devoted member until her passing.
Alma dedicated many years of service to the Houston Independent School District, where she was known for her kindness, diligence, and love for people. After her time with HISD, she went on to work at Deerbrook Mall, from which she later retired. Never one to remain idle, Alma pursued entrepreneurship and successfully operated Fobbs Variety Store for many years — a business that reflected her creativity, determination, and community spirit.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; Elijay Peterson Sr., and Alma Davis, husband; Fred Fobbs Sr, one sister; Effie Mae Gaston, eight brothers; Edward Nelson, Willie B. Nelson, Adolphus Nelson, Jimmie Nelson, Lonnie Peterson, Clyde Peterson, Wilbert Peterson, and Elijah Peterson Jr., stepdaughter; Donna Jean Latin, grandson; Anthony Fobbs, one granddaughter; Felicia Blanks, and one great granddaughter; Harmony Jackson.
Mrs. Alma is survived by daughters, Ramona Ann Fobbs, Linda Fobbs, Yolanda Jones(Tommy), three sons Fred Fobbs Jr, Glenn Fobbs and William Fobbs, step daughter, Crystal Hutson.15 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives who will forever remember her love, jokes and faith in God.
Though her earthly journey has come to an end, Mrs. Alma Grace Fobbs lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. She touched the hearts of everyone she met with her gentle spirit, wise counsel, and devotion to family and church. Alma’s life was a shining example of perseverance, compassion, and strength.
She has now completed her course and received her eternal reward. As written in 2 Timothy 4:7-8:
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness…”
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.
