Althia touched the lives of many including the children she cared for at Tia’s Place for 18 years. Recently, Althia began her career with KIPP Public School as a special education teacher, after graduating from the University of Houston in 2015. Althia was a go-getter and was recently notified of her acceptance to graduate school. She is survived by her mother, Jestina Brown, her children Kay-Ann Jones, Michael Kidd and Shemar Shakespeare, her husband Gary Douglas, her siblings Fay Gordon and Everton Kidd and numerous other relatives and close friends to cherish her memories. She is preceded in death by her father Aldin Kidd and brother Claude Kidd.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at The Bridge Southwest Community Christian Church and Pastor Gregg Patrick will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Michael Kidd, Shemar Shakespeare, Gary Douglas, Eric Bennett, Ian Gentles and Siguena Stewart.
Friends and families are welcome to her viewing on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Chapel of Eternal Peace at Forest Park Funeral Home located at 2454 S. Dairy Ashford Road, Houston, TX 77077.
Contributions in lieu of flowers and in memory of Althia may be made to Tia’s Place Foundation, a non-profit organization formed in her memory benefiting Autism and burial funding for those in need.
