At the age of five, the family moved to Houston and Al grew up in the Houston Heights attending All Saints Catholic School, graduating from St. Thomas High School in 1964, and attending the University of St. Thomas for two years.
While attending St. Thomas High School, Al was the team’s pitcher, throwing a wicked fast ball and a very difficult to hit curve. Al had several jobs as a young adult including working for a document printing company and a pipefitter installing fire sprinkler systems before finally working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for more than twenty-five years.
Al was preceded in death by his brother, Robert M. (Bobby) Dugas (1950-2007).
Al will be greatly missed by his family including his two adult children, Alton B. Dugas III and Caron Durham, his grandchildren Mia, Blake and Alexis, brothers Roger (Olivia), Maury (Susie), Tom (Camille) and sisters Nancy Knape and Donna Crowley. Also missing Al will be his many nieces, and nephews.
It was Al’s desire to be cremated with no formal service and his remains were given to a member of his immediate family.
