

Pete was born to the late Mr. Ambrose Gerner and Mrs. Rob Lee Wessendorff Gerner on the 4th of February 1936 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston. To gain more knowledge and expertise in the family’s cattle business, Pete enrolled in the veterinary medicine program at the University of Houston to study ranch management. It was there where he met his wife to be, Jan Ellis. In addition to cattle ranching, Pete was also involved with a variety of other commercial activities; including oil and gas, investments, and Mobile Home City, Inc., a firm that he founded in 1967 and served as it’s President and owner until his passing.
Pete is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jan Ellis Gerner; sons: John Frederick Gerner of Houston, and James Michael Gerner and wife, Kris, of Richmond; grandchildren: Robert Lee Gerner and Kristen Nicole Gerner, both of Richmond, Texas; and cousin, Catherine Jane Merchant of Houston and Sour Lake, Texas.
Honored to serve as casket bearers during the services are Robert L. Gerner, David Hatchett, Tim Johnson, Mason Neville, Joe Lee White, and Garrow Wessendorff. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Sammy Allen, Thomas H. Chapman, Jr., M.D., Stanley G. Cole, Wylie Hatcher, Cotton Morgan, and Tony Wessendorff.
The funeral service is to be conducted on Tuesday, the 1st of March, at one o’clock in the afternoon, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where clergy from River Pointe Church of Richmond are to officiate.
The interment is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
