Ana Cristina "Cristy" Moreno

Ana Cristina “Cristy” Moreno, age 61, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a courageous and fierce battle with cancer on May 22, 2024, at her home in Houston, Texas. Cristy was born in Brownsville, Texas on August 2, 1962. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jaime and Rose Moreno. Cristy graduated from Galena Park High School and continued her education at The University of Houston.

Cristy is survived by her sisters, Rosie Mikeska and husband, Jim from Hilltop Lakes, and Diana Foose from LaPorte; her nieces and nephews, Brian & Heather VanValkenburg, Sara & Aaron Ortega, Alexis & Austin Abbott, Zachary Foose, Madalyn Foose, Lee Mikeska, and Danielle & Aristotle Garcia. Cristy adored her nieces and nephews along with their beautiful children Blake, Wyatt, and Katie Rose. Her times with them were some of the happiest moments of her life. She is also survived by a large and loving extended family.



Cristy was called to a career in the restaurant business. She led others in her roles as training director to general manager for companies such as Pappas Restaurants, Luby’s and Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen. Cristy always put the needs of others before her own. She served, loved and cared for her fellow co-workers and staff. She had a true servant’s heart.

If you had the honor of knowing Cristy, you were blessed. Her contagious smile could lift anyone's spirit. She created a lifetime of impact with her vibrant soul. Cristy’s strong faith and compassion was a bright light for so many. She loved people and dedicated her time on earth to making everyone she touched feel special and loved.

She loved her dog, Henry, a constant companion. Cristy was a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior and attended Houston First Baptist Church. She was involved in prayer groups, enjoyed running, was an avid and accomplished runner, shared her ministry in volunteer work and loved cheering on her favorite teams the Houston Astros and the University of Houston Cougars.



When you look into the sky at night, any night, you will see a small twinkling star, making the night a little brighter and that is the light Cristy Moreno gave this world.



A Celebration of Life for her will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway in Houston, Texas. Immediately following the service, you are invited to remain for a reception and refreshments.

The family wants to express their gratitude to M.D. Anderson and Houston Hospice.

To honor Cristy’s memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Downtown Pregnancy Center where she volunteered and served faithfully in ministry.
