Sri. Anand Kodiyalam has passed away on the 18th of May 2016, just 12 days after his 38th birthday. True to his name Anand was a bundle of joy. Though he had to battle the failure of his kidneys for almost 10 years, he was positivity personified to such an extent that he kept enduring the ordeal without letting a word of complaint slip from his mouth. Anybody spending half a dozen hours every day on a process of treatment for his body doesn’t need to find any other reason to absolve himself from fulfilling familial and official responsibilities. But, for Anand, it was a God given time and opportunity to strengthen his bonds with his family of three sweet children and an overtly focused wife. He was sincere about his social responsibilities. Till he breathed his last, he remained a person who never said no to anybody who sought his help. He was a philanthropist to the humble extent that he could grow. He extended his compassion to the needy; in the very form they sought it; be it financial, moral or physical. Anand was committed to India, the country of his origin from where he inherited his value system. The corporations that he worked for long years, P&G, Hewlett Packard and General Motors, have stood by him in his testing times. It could not have been for any other reason than rewarding him for his sharpacumen, intelligence, leadership and organizing skills. 38 is an age when most people reflect on their lives and start planning for middle age life, their course of action for the next two decades, and the retirement thereafter. But this steel hearted man, while putting all his efforts for a decade to find a solution to his health issues, has also been toiling hard to settle his family well in case of any fatal eventuality, the very instance that he has now been bestowed with by providence. Anand has been a strong pillar of support for his unfortunate parents who stand in the losing side of a mental battle that they have fought for two days about traveling to the other side of the world just to see their loving child laying still. If there was one reason why Anand could be worried now, apart from leaving his family mid way, would be his inability to thank the family members of the person who came forward to offer the organ. That was precisely, his personality. People close to Anand for many years verily identify two different phases in his mental composure and approach to life. Though he was intelligent and capable from an early age, he was not known to be the epitome of mental strength. One significant incident changed him thoroughly. That was his marriage to Madhumita Mukherjee. His association with her helped him become a person capable of enduring any challenge thrown at him. At this time, the best way for all his friends and relatives to offer respect his departed soul is by reminding his wife Madhumita of her internal strengths and her ability to take care of their lovable children Siddharth, Satvik and Shlok.
