Anderson Johnson, Jr. (affectionately called Junior) was the sixth child and the fourth son born to Anderson and Augusta Jackson-Johnson on September 11, 1939 in Sealy, Texas. He confessed his belief in Christ at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church in Sealy, Texas and after moving to Brenham, Texas, he and the entire family joined St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church. While living in Brenham he attended Pickard High School and after moving to Houston attended
E. O. Smith High School. He eventually met a young lady that became the love of life, Barbara Jean Jarmon whom he married on December 22, 1958 and to this union five (5) children were born.
Growing up in a family of truck drivers, it was inevitable that he would follow in the footsteps of his Dad and Brothers. Although, unlike his Dad and Brothers, he only drove locally in Houston and various surrounding areas. While growing up in Brenham, Junior developed a passion for taking his bicycles apart and then redesigning them into what he thought was cool. As he became older, that passion turned to his cars and trucks. His favorite pastime was watching his son, Darryl, drive the truck that he had redesigned at the race track.
He was preceded in death by his parents Anderson, Sr. and Augusta Johnson; four brothers Willie Charles Johnson; Thomas James Johnson, Sr.; two infant brothers; sister Margaree Johnson; daughter Shebrena Jarmon-Johnson, his wife of 46 years, Barbara Jarmon-Johnson and grandson Alfred L. Moody, Jr. Even though we did not want to say goodbye, we bow in humble submission to the will of Almighty God. Left in God’s care to cherish his memories are his two daughters, Cheryl Johnson-Jones (Kevin); Ulanda Johnson-King (Derrick); two sons, Eric L. Johnson (Bernice) and Darryl E. Johnson; five sisters, Gladys Johnson- McQueen; Doris Johnson-Hubert; Helen Johnson-Overshown; Loretha Johnson and
