Andres Antonio Pena

Andres Antonio “Suchi” Peña, age 66, peacefully entered the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by family at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital on March 1, 2026. He was born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia on February 7, 1960 and was the son of the late Rafael Edgar Peña Sr. and Evelyn Carol Baker.

Suchi’s childhood was spent exploring the streets of La Paz, Bolivia, the source of a seemingly endless well of stories, lessons, and wisdom. At the age of ten, he and his family moved to the United States, where he learned and embraced Texas culture with enthusiasm.

A beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother, he delighted in mischievous pranks, obscure historical facts, could never retell a funny story without laughing himself to pieces in the telling, and could always find God’s goodness in the smallest, darkest moments. He loved his family, cooking, his latest finds from H-E-B, our country, and most importantly, Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Rafael Edgar “Rafito” Peña Jr. and Mario Alejandro Eduardo “Papi” Peña, and his niece, Christine Anne Price.

He is survived by his siblings Gloria Peña McCreary and Carol Peña LeBlanc; his children, Monica Noelle Gilliam and her husband Morgan; and Cristian Eduardo Peña and his wife Abrey; his grandchildren, Baker R. Gilliam, Caroline S. Gilliam, Henry C. Gilliam, and Juniper E. Peña; his nieces and nephews Michelle Hake, Tracy McCreary, Rene Lymberopoulos, Robyn Leatherwood, and Daniel LeBlanc, along with many beloved extended family members and friends.

Thank you to Memorial Oaks for the care and guidance provided in arranging his services. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 11am on April 7, 2026 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

His warm laughter and loving spirit will be forever missed on this side of Heaven, until the joyful day we are reunited with him in Paradise.
