Ann Shelton Currie
February 20, 1958 – January 4, 2021
Ann Shelton Currie, age 62, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on January 4, 2021 at St Luke’s Hospital surrounded by family. Ann was born February 20, 1958 in Houston, Texas and was the daughter of William and Mary Currie.
Raised in Houston, Ann was a graduate of Bellaire High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Houston Baptist University. She then began a 35 year career with Texaco/Chevron in Accounting that took her to a variety of locations before finally settling in Houston in 1988 to work until her retirement in 2015.
Ann was a devout member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday School for special needs children and participated in many Bible studies.
Ann was predeceased by her mother Mary Shelton Currie. She is survived by her father, William Stanley Currie and her sister, Mary/Mimi Currie Barber (Jim) and brothers, Charles S. Currie (Sue) and Michael M. Currie (Lea). Ann also leaves her nieces and nephews who she loved and was beloved by: Michael Barber (Lauren), Betsy Barber, McLeod Barber, Jennifer Currie, Stephanie Ahmed (Kareem) and Nicholas Scott (Lisa).
Ann’s devotion to her friends will always be remembered. Her love for beagles and all things Snoopy will continue to bring a smile to all who knew her.
Her strength and faith in God through many adversities was a great testament to all who knew her. Ann’s family would like to express its sincere thanks to the St. Luke’s Liver Transplant Team and all her other doctors, nurses, and staff whose efforts extended Ann’s life for over a decade.
Ann will be interred privately in the Garden of the Cross at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. A Memorial Service to celebrate Ann’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial donations be made to The Turner Syndrome Foundation or St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.
