He has gone on ahead of me to save me a place."God be with you till we meet again", Dad." - Amelia Stortz Anthony John Stortz Sr. is survived by his wife of 42 years Amelia (Melie) Corona Stortz ,residing in Houston Texas; Sons : Anthony John Stortz Jr. (41, Wife: Faith) and Louis Neil Stortz (35); Granddaughter: Amanda Michelle Stortz (21, student), Grandsons: Anthony John Stortz III (16 BSA Life), Aaron Christopher Stortz (14, BSA Star), and Andrew Wyatt Stortz (11, BSA Scout); Mother: Gladys M. Stortz of Jackson, Ms., Brother: Louis Stortz Jr of Kenner, La.(wife Nancy); Preceded in death by daughter, Lauren Michelle Stortz, Father, Louis Anthony Stortz, and Sister, Lois Ann Wooldridge. Various relatives, cousins, nieces and nephews and Church family, as well as many friends in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. He was an active softball coach with Pasadena Texas Special Olympics for 20 years. And a long time supporter of BSA Scouting. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints he held many callings at several levels within the Church. AJ or Dad, as he was commonly referred, was born on April 30, 1945 to Louis and Gladys Stortz in New Orleans, Louisiana. The family would later move and reside in Jackson, Mississippi where he would eventually attend Mississippi State University. While studying at "State" he was drafted into the US Army for service in Vietnam. While in the service he was assigned as General Staff where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant before ending his tour. He returned from Vietnam to complete college and graduate with a Bachelor's in Business Administration from "State". After college, he found employment in the field of industrial tools which he continued in until his passing. AJ eventually took up residence in Houston, Texas, where he met Amelia. They were wed on April 19, 1973 in Livingston, Alabama. A year later, in May 1974, they began their family with the birth of their first son. On April 19, 2003 he was Eternally Sealed to his wife Amelia in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - Houston Texas Temple.
