

Antoinette (Zarzana) Mattaliano, a lifelong resident of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully Friday, the 1st of August 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 92 years of age. Mrs. Mattaliano was born to Wincy and Louis Zarzana on the 8th of October 1932.
She graduated from Jefferson Davis High School. On the 15th of July 1951, Antoinette married the love of her life, Carl A. Mattaliano, Jr., sharing 50 years of marriage. They were blessed with 5 children – Carl III, Antoinette, Virginia, Louis and Joseph.
Antoinette was a member of the Amikitos and 50 Something Club. She loved family gatherings making memories with The Zarzana Cousins. She was a devout Catholic, and her faithfulness to God and His Church was immeasurable. She was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church for over 45 years, following as a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church when she moved to Spring, Texas to be close to her children. In her early years, Antoinette worked in administrative positions for both St. Theresa Catholic Church and St. Thomas High School. She then retired, dedicating and devoting her life to care for her mother, Wincy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Carl A. Mattaliano, Jr.; mother and father, Wincy (Beniretto) and Louis Zarzana; and sister Vita (Zarzana) Rizzo.
Antoinette is survived by her 5 children, Carl Mattaliano III and wife Antoinette; Antoinette Turano and husband Jack; Virginia Gott; Louis Mattaliano and wife Frances; Joseph Mattaliano and wife Kathy. She also leaves behind her 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who brought her the greatest joy. Carl Mattaliano IV and wife Brittany – Children Enzo and Skylar; Lauren (Mattaliano) Ricker and husband AJ – Children Andrew, Carly, and Luke; Patrice Mattaliano– Children Colton, Jake, and Lane Ricker; Jack Turano III and wife Jacqueline – Children Jack IV and Julian; Lynette (Turano) Loria and husband Phillip – Child Nicholas; Kelly Gott, Jason Gott, David Gott; Dominic Fiorenza; Joseph Fiorenza; Austin Woodward, Stacy Thomas, and Kortney Britt.
She is also survived by her precious nieces Marie Greenleaf, husband Bill; and Virginia “Ginger” Lundy, husband Henry.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from four o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 5th of August, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at five o’clock in the afternoon.
Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 6th of August, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell Street in Houston, where the Reverend Justin Cormie and Monsignor Eugene Francis will be presiding, along with with concelebrants, Deacon Larry Vaclavik and Deacon Louis Provenzano.
The Rite of Committal will follow, via escorted cortege, at Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Avenue in Houston.
The Pallbearers will be Carl Mattaliano, IV., A. J. Ricker, Colton Ricker, Jack Turano III, Phillip Loria, Kelly Gott, Jason Gott, Austin Woodward.
Honorary Pallbearers are The Zarzana Cousins, Tommy Pizzitola, Frank J. Montalbano, Michael J. Montalbano, John J. Montalbano, Bill Greenleaf, Henry Lundy, and The City of Houston Fire Chief Thomas Muñoz.
The family would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff of Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and special appreciation to mom’s Angel Aides Catherine Smith Williams, LaTiffany Murphy, and Anita Fair who were compassionate in their care of our mother.
