Tonia leaves behind her loving son Mark, partner Rhonda Edmonds, brother George Lopez, wife Anne; Jenny Finley, husband Ron; Ricardo DiGeorgi, wife Jacqui; Ron Findlay, wife Kelly; Neil Findlay; sister-in-law Moon Nakhla, Mamdouh Nakhla, Cheri Nakhla, Magda Shamma, Shadia Shamma, Sharif and
Anita Barbera, Greg Barbera, Anita, Ricardo, Claudia & Family, Joyce Trimas.
Preceded in death by husband Adel (1928 - 1983), mother Marie Lopez. father Joseph Lopez,
Ivanka Brown Klier, and Anna DiGiorgi.
Born in Alexandria, Egypt, immigrated to Australia when she was a young girl of 18, (where she
worked for Renault) and later to the United States where she reunited with and married Adel in
San Francisco. Their son Mark was born there, Adel graduated from Stanford and started his
long career with Bechtel.
Tonia lived in many locations as Adel worked as an engineer on projects with Bechtel Corporation. The first project was ini Brisbane, Australia and then to Bechtel headquarters in San Francisco and after that many world wide projects.
Tonia lived in Houston, Texas for the last 40 years.
Tonia loved helping and visiting relatives and friends in Egypt, Australia, Italy, England, Canada and France as well as many places in the United States and talking frequently with them. Tonia spoke six languages and was learning Spanish. She traveled extensively and fulfilled her dream with a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon.
Tonia was always busy with many activities; including bridge with the International Club, her Friday group (meeting at La Madeliene), an active member of the Bechtel Wives' Club, memberships in international clubs, dining and happy hour with friend, attending festivals and would not miss the annual Gem and Jewelry show and Nutcracker Market. She enjoyed live performances by Santana, Andrea Bocelli, Madonna, Cher, and Keith Urban when they performed in Houston and she loved to dance!!!. She was certainly a Gal on the go!!!
Tonia was an avid reader with varied interests; local, national and international news, politics, celebrities, royal families and local events around town. Wouldn’t miss an article of ZEST, “What’s Happening” in the Houston paper.
Extremely independent. (Would often ask for advice but do things her way!)

She had a casual elegant and laid back attitude!
She was down to earth!
She lived day to day with a vibrance that was contagious!
She had a giving, helpful attitude to everyone she met!
Tonia was loved by many friends and relatives in Houston and elsewhere and will be greatly missed!
