Ardene Dorothy White

ARDENE DOROTHY WHITE 89, born May 23, 1933, in Downers Grove, IL. passed away on April 1, 2023, in Houston. Ardene was preceded in death by her husband Ted G. White, her ex- husband Cyril J Smith Jr. and most recently her 24 year companion Stan Spray, her parents Marie and Arthur Skrine, sister Florence Johnson and her very dear cousin Gerry Graham. After graduating high school in Bensenville IL., Ardene and her first cousin Gerry moved to Southern California to escape the cold weather in IL. It was there Ardene met her first husband Cyril J Smith Jr., who was in the Navy and stationed in San Diego. Ardene was an incredible spirit who loved life, her family and friends, with her grandchildren being the light of her life. She will be sorely missed by all, not only in Houston but in Lake Park, FL. where she and her significant other Stan enjoyed her second home where they loved spending time around the pool with their friends drinking wine and sharing life’s stories. Ardene and Stan loved to travel, taking over 100 cruises plus many driving trips around the U.S. and overseas. She always had a place in her heart for the less fortunate, adopting families at Thanksgiving and Christmas time and helping them throughout the year.

Ardene was a loving Mother to and is survived by her only child Cyril “Jeff” Smith and his wife Debbie of Houston. She was also a loving Step Mother to Bari Pace of Magnolia and Britt White and his wife Roxanne of MN and the mother of 3 of her grandchildren Frances Smith of Houston. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cyril Jeffrey Smith Jr, of Midland, TX. and his children CJ, Ava and Aulani, Elizabeth Haffner and her husband Joe of Freeport, FL. and their children MaryBeth and Emma, Tiffany Limer and her husband Luigi of Freeport, Fl. and their children Giuliana and Isabella, Hannah Blanchette and her husband Bill of Austin, TX. and their children Simon, Rigel and Oberon, Shannon Patterson and her husband Isaac of Houston, Jennifer Garcia and her husband Jacob of VA. and their son Cameron and Matthew Colvin and his wife Lisette of Katy, TX. and their children JD and JT. She is also survived her two nephews Michael Johnson and his wife Susanna of IL. and Richard Johnson of IL., and Stan Spray’s children Steve Spray of CA, Shelly Spray of CA and Dana Braccia of AZ. Services for Ardene will be at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home
