

Arthur Wesley Parker A.K.A A.W. Parker
Arthur Wesley Parker (AKA) A.W. Parker was born August 2, 1940 in Houston, Tx to the proud parents of the late Reverend Sabbath Bethel Parker and Edna Lucille (Taylor) Parker. He was number 10 of 16 children. He became a Christian at a very young age at his dad's church Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Acres Homes. He became a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in 2006, under the leadership of his nephew, Rev. Raymond H. Hillis. A.W. graduated from Kashmere High School and attended Texas Southern University. He made an extraordinary impact on the Teamsters Community during a time when segregation still existed. A.W. became the first Black man to hold a primary office at a Teamsters Local Union in the South. He has held the titles of Business Agent, Joint Council 58 President, Texas Conference of Teamsters President, Secretary-Treasurer, and International Representative for IBT. A.W dedicated his life to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and helping workers make their voices heard. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 26 years Shelia Parker, his children Yolanda (Parker) Montgomery, Arthur Parker Jr, Amos Parker (deceased), Karen (Parker) Hallman, Kelson Parker, and Micolette (Fuselier)
Goeyns. His siblings Artie Faye Pipkins, Jean Marie Jackson, Margie Nell Mosley, Rev. James Ray Parker, Paul Parker, Rev. Samuel L. Parker, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
