

Ms. Audrey is survived by her daughter, Palmea Soape; grandchildren: Greg and Serena Soape; great granddaughter, Kelsey Soape. Audrey was preceded by her parents: Jettie and Albert; husbands: Odell, Carl and Jerry; brother, Toby and son-in-law, Larry.
Audrey was born July 30, 1937 in Shreveport, Louisiana, the eldest daughter of Jettie Henry and Albert Bernard Martin. Audrey was the elder of 4 siblings: sister, Margie Wallace; brothers: Toby Martin and Jerry Wayne Martin. She grew up and attended school in Zwolle Louisiana. As a young lady, she married early in life to Odell Thornton and welcomed her only daughter, Palmea Soape. Later in life, she married Carl Ewing, a marriage that lasted over 25 years, and after his death, married her last husband, Jerry Gardiner.
She was a religious and devoted Catholic and volunteered her time as a member of the St. John Neuman Women’s Auxiliary, Altar and Rosary Society. She also supported our veterans and war heroes holding officer position's as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Audrey was a creative woman, and enjoyed doing arts and crafts including flower-arranging, and loved to decorate her house monthly. Her other hobby included listening and dancing to country music. Being a perfectionist to the letter, Audrey took pride and loved house cleaning.
Visitation will be Friday, July 31st from 5-8p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11am, Saturday, Aug. 1st in the Grand Chapel of Brookside Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
The family would like to express thanks to nurses and aids at Legend Oaks Willowbrook Nursing Home for their care, love, and support towards Ms. Audrey during her illnesses. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask for contributions to purchase a burial footstone for remembrance of a beloved mother, wife, grandmother and sister.
