Augusto was born on November 26, 1941 in Marmato Caldas, Colombia. He was the oldest of 11 children, and in 1974, immigrated to the United States. He originally landed in Florida, but eventually made Houston, Texas his home. Houston is where he would marry Gladys who he lovingly referred to as ‘Ma’ and where together, they would raise their four children. Professionally, he retired from General Electric after
almost 30 years of employment.
Augusto had a passion for traveling. Throughout the years he was able to share his love of traveling with Gladys. They went on many adventures all over the world including Canada, Honduras, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Ecuador, France, Italy, Croatia, and his beloved home of Colombia. However, his favorite was to cruise through the Caribbean or exploring Alaska. He was an avid music lover and especially enjoyed listening to his old Colombian music while sitting in his backyard. Often, you could find him taking walks around the neighborhood or at the nearby gas station checking his lottery tickets for winning numbers. Augusto also had a passion for photography and enjoyed documenting his many adventures. He will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and compassionate spirit.
Augusto is preceded in death by his parents Martin and Elvira Arismendy, and his brother Alberto. He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years Gladys, his children Swamy and wife Cathy, Carlos Mauricio and wife Suany, Tabitha Marily and husband Jorge, and Daniel and wife Nicole; his grandchildren who only lovingly knew him as “Popo”: India, Elijah, Andres, Diego, Ayden, Robbie, and Draven. In addition, he also leaves behind his nine siblings and many nieces and nephews in Colombia.
