Aurora Macias Carreon
January 11, 1922 – December 30, 2018
With her loving daughter by her side, Aurora Macias Carreon passed away peacefully on December 30, 2018, just 12 days before celebrating her 97th birthday. She was a caring and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Aurora was born to Jose and Guadalupe Macias on January 11, 1922 in Waelder, Texas. She would assume the role of matriarch of her family at the young age of 12 years old, upon her mother’s death. In the years that followed, Aurora would make sure the house was always kept and her father Jose and sister Mollie were fed and cared for. At the age of 27, Aurora would meet the love of her life while walking to the local store where she would find Claro Carreon as he was working on the nearby Southern Pacific Railroad tracks in Waelder, Texas. Aurora and Claro would eventually elope and have two children, Eva and Juan. As a devoted mother and homemaker, Aurora was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family where it is said she made the best apple pie in Texas. She was a great dancer, but what she loved most was caring for her husband, children and grandchildren who brought her so much joy. Aurora was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Guadalupe Macias, and beloved husband of 63 years, Claro. She is survived by her daughter Eva Walker and husband Tony; son Juan Carreon; sister Mollie and late husband Juan Delgado of Holland, Michigan; grandchildren Owen and Nikki Dunn. She will truly be missed by her family, to whom she devoted her life. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 5 pm - 8 pm and the funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3rd at 10 am, Pat H. Foley, 1200 W. 34th St. Houston, Texas 77018. Aurora Macias Carreon

I loved to visit Mrs. Carreon at Grace Care Center Cypress. She was always so sweet and kind. I wish I had known her before she became ill. I will always have fond memories of the time we spent together. Prayers for peace and comfort to the family and friends of Mrs. Carreon.

My mother is Susanne Watts, and was a good friend and neighbor of Aurora's.
My mother used to visit her several times a week, and enjoyed her company for many years. They would sit on the porch and talk, or go to Mytiburger and my mother remembers her fondly and with good memories as a good friend and neighbor. She doesn't write much anymore, so I'm doing it for her.
Condolences and best wishes to her family.
