On February 22, 1962, B.W. Whitehead, Sr. was born to Verge Whitehead, Sr. and Luddie Bell Qualls Whitehead in Houston, TX. He accepted Christ at the early age of 7 at New Life Missionary Baptist Church located in Settegast. B.W. Whitehead, Sr’s favorite scripture is Psalm 73:26, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” By the time B.W. Whitehead, Sr. graduated from M.B. Smiley High School in 1979, B.W. Whitehead, Sr. and Dedira Diane Whitehead were married and in 1980 welcomed their firstborn, B.W. Whitehead, Jr. and later welcomed another son, Kendrick Jermaine Whitehead, and a couple of years later, welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Deshunda Rochelle Whitehead.
B.W. Whitehead, Sr. joined the United States Army in 1979 and was stationed in Fort Hood, TX as a Multichannel Communications Equipment Operator. Years later, He received an Honorable discharge, returned home, and begin to pursue other passions and aspirations. B.W. Whitehead, Sr. was employed by Richardson Sports as a certified forklift driver where he diligently worked until his health began to fail. B.W. Whitehead, Sr. brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives with his kind heart, radiant smile, and sense of humor. Though his time with us was brief, the depth of love and happiness he shared will forever remain in our hearts.
On August 3, 2024, B.W. Whitehead, Sr. ascended to eternal peace at the age of 62. He was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. His last days were spent surrounded by family on a beautiful 5-acre ranch in Waller, TX. B.W. Whitehead, Sr. is preceded in death by his father, Verge Whitehead, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Luddie Bell Whitehead; three children, B.W. Whitehead, Jr. (Natalie), Kendrick Jermaine Whitehead, and Deshunda Rochelle Whitehead; seven grandchildren, Jashuan Deon Whitehead (Rushanna), Brayden Kenyon Whitehead, JaKiyah Jade Bickham, Bishop Davion Whitehead, Madison Grace Loft, Bailey Winter Whitehead, and Malachi Deene Loft; one great granddaughter, Acelyn MaKenna Cunningham; eight siblings, Pamela Haskins, Bennie Ray Whitehead (Mary), Verge Whitehead, Jr., Vernon Level Whitehead, LaVerne Whitehead-Tyler, Patricia Ann Whitehead-Smith, Katrena Rosena Whitehead-Douglas (Roosevelt), and Pernella Sonda Kay Whitehead-Gant; the mother of his children, Dedira Whitehead; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation for B.W. will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Friday, August 16, 2024 from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Friday, August 16, 2024 from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038. A reception will occur Friday, August 16, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
