

Barbara R. Barnes was born, January 8, 1938, to Len and Rhea Bradley in Providence, Rhode Island. She loved going to the beach with her 2 brothers and sister. The family would spend the summer at a cottage on Buttonwood Beach, Warwick, Rhode Island.
She became a Registered Nurse from Rhode Island Hospital and received a Nursing Degree from Boston University. She was married to her beloved husband, Bill, for 57 years and after 6 moves ended up in Houston in 1980. She was a parishioner at SEAS since 1980, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Helping Hands Coordinator and Homebound Minister.
She worked as a Pediatric Nurse at Memorial Herman Hospital for 20 years. Barbara leaves a daughter, Jennifer, and a son, Billy, and 7 grandchildren (ages 10-24). Barbara manifested symptoms of mild memory loss in 2008, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s/Dementia in 2013 and lived at home until late 2018. She was then transferred to a Memory Care Facility. Barbara will be remembered as a loving person, with a dry sense of humor and lots of great memories.

CEMETERY ARRANGEMENTS
Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive
Date: Wednesday May 7. 2025, Time 10:30 AM, however must be in Line #1 by 10:15 AM and will be guided to the pavilion for the Committal Service at 10:30 AM, it will be in an outside covered pavilion. Enter the cemetery from T.C. Jester and the road will take you to line #1.
The Committal service will be about 20 minutes and will be conducted by our neighbor Deacon Dan Ruvalcaba.
After the service Barbara’s Urn will be taken by the Cemetery Staff to be placed in the Columbarium Niche when it has been readied for the Urn. The Marker for the Niche will then be prepared, and I will be notified by the Cemetery Staff of the location.
