

Barbara Hall Chamberlain, of Katy, Texas and formerly of Baytown and Wimberley, Texas died peacefully on January 15. Barbara was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on August 13, 1920. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1938 and the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1941. She enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in 1942 and served until her discharge in October 1945. While in the Army, Barbara met and married Nugent Chamberlain, and their union lasted for over 64 years ending with Nugent's death in 2008. Barbara and Nugent had three sons - John, Scott and David. During the 40 years she spent in Baytown and the 13 years in Wimberley, Barbara was an active volunteer in numerous religious, charitable and civic organizations.
She is survived by her sons John of Houston and David and his wife Colleen of Katy and granddaughter Kathryn of Dallas, brother Bill Hall of Allentown, Pennsylvania, nephew James Hall of York, Pennsylvania and nieces Joanne Kline of Couder's Port, Pennsylvania and Jackie Atkinson of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 22 at 12:30 pm in the Chapel at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079. The family requests that, as an alternative to sending flowers or plants, donations be made to a local animal shelter in Barbara's name. Barbara touched the lives of those she met, and we will all miss her greatly.
