Barbara was born October 31st, 1938, in Houston, TX to Walter and Etna Cherry. She grew up on the mill block with her sister, Lillie “Sissy,” whom she did everything with. They enjoyed playing the accordion and dressing alike. They even married brothers and went from the Cherry sisters to the Fowler sisters.
Barbara married the love of her life, Norman Fowler, in June of 1957. They resided in Houston where they raised their son, Norman Michael, and spent many wonderful years together before his passing in 2019.
Barbara enjoyed her time working for Montgomery Ward and American General Life Insurance Company. She was a wonderful neighbor with a watchful eye and was like a second mother to her next-door neighbor, Karen Colbert. Barbara and Norman lived on Art Street for over 50 years. They were longtime members at Memorial Baptist Church then went on to become members at Second Baptist Church and later West Conroe Baptist Church. She was an active member where she loved to volunteer and talk to everyone she met! Other hobbies included spending time with her grandchild, Stacy, traveling to Branson, walking the mall, and collecting ducks. She had dreams of going to Hawaii.
Barbara is survived by her son, Norman Michael Fowler and his wife Julieta, granddaughter, Stacy Eddins and her husband Bobby, great grandchildren Jack, Carter, and Hudson Eddins, sister Lillie Fowler, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
We’ll always remember her selfless and fiery spirit that served to strengthen everyone she met. She is leaving behind an unfillable gap in the hearts of her loved ones.
