Barbara was beloved and cherished by all who knew her. She was brave, devoted, faithful, and generous, always demonstrating a hard-working and humorous nature. Her thoughtful and gentle spirit, combined with her wisdom, touched many lives.
Barbara was always up for a good mystery movie, family gatherings, tasty food, and any opportunity to celebrate, even the little life moments. She could melt your heart with her movie star’s smile and comfort you with just a glance from her warm and loving eyes. Barbara grew up in the Northeast with her younger sister and her loving parents. She made the journey south to Texas with her husband and daughter in the 1970s and soon thereafter welcomed the arrival of her son. She loved living in Texas and made lifelong friends.
She enjoyed her work as a logistics coordinator and legal secretary, and in retirement, she became a bridal consultant, which brought her happiness because she loved helping others find joy and confidence in themselves before their big day. Outside of work, she was always ready for a good game of cards or dominos, cooking up a feast, or working in the garden. Barbara was also an incredible artist in many mediums; her favorite was stained glass. She was known for her elegance, grace, and impeccable taste, as well as her laugh and enjoyment of a good joke. She spent her later years with her family, enjoying her children, grandchildren, and her new great-grandchild. Family and friends were her heart and her joy.
Barbara is survived by her sister Joanne Cannon; her son Matthew Gallup; her daughter Dulcey Johnson; grandsons Brandon Johnson and Reid Gallup; granddaughters London Johnson and Zoey Gallup; and her first great-granddaughter, Clarke Rice Johnson, as well as many cherished friends.
