

She was born on June 2, 1943, in Livingston, Texas to Ernest L. Dixon and Hazel Richey Dixon. When she was six weeks old her daddy came from the Army to meet her and a month later left to fight in World War II. He returned a year and 9 months later from the battle at Normandy to be her loving father. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1961 where she was a head cheerleader, in the royal court, most popular, best all-round seniors, D.A.R. Good Citizens, along with student counsel, volleyball and other clubs. She loved her classmates and worked diligently for years on the reunion committee to keep in touch with friends.
Barbara started her career at Armco Steel where she enjoyed helping others with retirement and benefits. She was the last person to leave the company when it closed and made sure all employees received the help they needed before she turned off the lights. She moved on to Lone Star and went to college graduating from Our Lady of the Lake in May 1994. She used her experience and education to help others at American General where she retired. She was a lifetime committeeman with Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo with 29 years of volunteering with the Rodeo Express and Ladies Go Texan Committees. She was a caring wife, amazing mom, loving Mimi, and fun loving friend.
She is survived by her loving husband, Herbert Hatch; daughter Kathi Goedrich and husband Randy, son Bradley Hatch and wife Clare; grandchildren Jonathan Goedrich, Chase Wells, Ava Hatch, Dylan Hatch, Kash Zvolensky, Kallie Zvolensky, and Kenzie Zvolensky; brother Eddie Dixon and wife Billie and nieces, cousins, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughters Terri Smith and Somer Zvolensky Martinez.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral will held at the same location on Friday, June 12, 2026, in the Texas Liberty Mausoleum with visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. There will be a reception at the main Funeral Home following the service.
