Barbara Ann Jackson

Mrs. Barbara Ann Jackson, a devoted loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful servant made her transition on Sunday May 17, 2026, at the age of 71, at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center leaving a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith. Barbara Ann Jackson was born on July 19, 1954, in Shreveport, LA. She was the oldest daughter of the late Bennie A. Jenkins and Gussie L. Williams.

Barbara accepted Christ at an early age and attended the Greater Hope Baptist Church. After moving to Houston, TX she became a member of New Faith Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until moving to Katy, TX.

Barbara attended Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, LA. After graduating, she attended Louisiana Tech University, became a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, and gained a desire to work in the Insurance Industry where she had a successful career spanning over 40 years in Houston, Texas until retiring in April of 2021.

Barbara was an avid bowler and attended many tournaments across the US with her many bowling friends, visiting many cities and enjoying life. A member in the Fresh Start league at Times Square since 2009 and The Friday AM Mixed league at Copperfield, she also bowled in many other leagues in the Houston area over the years. She enjoyed bowling in Local, State, and National tournaments including but not limited to: Women’s City, State (Women’s, Senior, Mixed), Women’s Nationals and the Open Nationals. She loved to travel, making her way to visit her son, stationed in Japan with the U.S. Navy, as well as a recent Christmas family trip to the Dutch Caribbean Bonaire in 2025.

Her biggest joy in life were her three grandsons, whom she loved dearly. She never missed any milestones in their lives, traveling to the many cities where they lived.

Barbara’s memory will be cherished by her devoted daughter Michele D. (Jimmie L. Jr.) Sanders, devoted son Henry Jackson lll, her devoted life partner Louis Craver, grandsons, Jourdan G. Sanders, Jimmie L. lll (Ivy) Sanders and Jadin C. Sanders, godson Kenneth (LaFonda) McKee and their children India, Israel and Isiah, sisters; Bennie Ruth Jenkins, Bertha Williams, Gwendolyn Thomas (Jeffery), Kathryn Jenkins, and Phyllis Harrison, brothers; Robert (Beverly), James Fortson, Michael Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Special friends who were at her side 24/7 taking turns watching and praying with her family, Natasha Stewart, Denise Washington, Mandie Theus, Alicia Craddock, Bellenthia LeGrand, and Nancy Fenoligo.
